Inspired by the idea that a legend can be a place, this piece reimagines the Mississippi River as a story stitched by hand. A woman sits at the river’s source, quietly sewing a quilt as fabric and thread spill down the canvas, forming a tangled map of the river and its tributaries. The flowing lines mirror water and memory, connecting generations through the act of creation. Both grounded and poetic, the painting captures the soul of the South.
